QUOTE OF THE MONTH: Getting knocked down in life is a given. Getting up, starting from where you are and moving forward, is a choice. Zig Ziglar

THE MAIN THING:

So often, I have worked diligently on creating a clear direction for my life, complete with 10 or more years of advance planning for a healthy and happy existence. Just as often, that plan has gone awry, with my real life getting in the way of my imagined life - so very inconvenient! And yet, I am acutely aware of what I have gained from these curves in the road. Would I have been happier if everything had "gone my way" or is my life more meaningful, substantial, and yes, even more fun and interesting because of those very twists and turns? If car commercials prefer the more curvy path over the straight one, who am I to argue with their collective wisdom?

There will inevitably be those times when you are challenged to respond to what you don't want, when you will have the choice to become a victim, a villain or a hero in your own life story. Those curves in the road are your own personal opportunity to try out the hero role, to step more fully into the courage, wisdom, perseverance, nobility, loyalty, humor, and above all, the deep love that can only come from being tested and honed by the vagaries of life. If you can express this love both for yourself and for others during troubled times, there is no more valuable experience you could offer the world.

HUMOR YOUR STRESS:
Happy Thanksgiving, Canada

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family.

She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?"

The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead."

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes 'n gravy
Have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious
May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs.

He who laughs, lasts.
