Clear Pathways Coaching Newsletter 6/9/08

My apologies for the late arrival of the newsletter. The list server was "Down and Out in Beverly Hills". Well it might not have been Beverly Hills but it was down and out.

Dear Friends: Welcome to Clear Pathways Coaching newsletter.
I recently made some minor changes to my web site. That was only one expression of the revolving door of reinventions life presents. Of course, it was natural for the newsletter to follow suit. You will not see an extreme make-over; just a simplified format. The purpose? As Stephen Covey said, “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.”

Warmly, Lillian

QUOTE OF THE MONTH:
Interestingly, koi, when put in a fish bowl, will only grow up to three inches. When this same fish is placed in a large tank, it will grow to about nine inches long. In a pond koi can reach lengths of eighteen inches. Amazingly, when placed in a lake, koi can grow to three feet long. The metaphor is obvious. You are limited by how you see the world. - Vince Poscente (Invinceable Principles)

THE MAIN THING: Are you a probability thinker or a possibility thinker? You have no ultimate safety, security or guarantees, so don’t expect any. What you have are endless opportunities to rearrange your priorities for work, play, and life.

The phrase – possibility thinking - is the essence of what it’s all about. You need to examine your thoughts. Are they productive or counter-productive? Do they point you in a forward-moving direction or do they stop you dead in your tracks? If you think you can’t do something without examining the facts, you will keep spinning your wheels. Once you determine whether your thoughts are working for or against you, you then need to look at probability versus possibility. Something can be possible without being probable. When man dreamed of putting humans into space he had to believe it was possible. In the early stages without the know-how, it was not probable. So forget statistics, proof and probability. You have to invest in what is possible. That is how change can occur. That is how new directions can be revealed. That is how you get unstuck. What is probable about what you believe? What is possible if you stop believing in your limits? Be willing to live on the outer edge of your possibilities and not on the inner edge of your security.

HUMOR YOUR STRESS: Too many to-do lists? Have they taken on a life of their own? How about making a to-don’t list? List several things you don’t have to do. Every time you look at it, your stress level will drop considerably. Be outrageous with your to-don’ts. Have fun. The more fun you have with this the less cortisol and the more smiles you’ll produce.

Remember: he who laughs, lasts.
