     About Lillian

It all began when I packed up my B.S. in Speech Education and Psychology and moved to a farm in Vermont. I experienced a total lifestyle make-over. (Listen up Martha Stewart.)  I became an organic gardener, canning fruits and vegetables, chopping wood, making bread from scratch, watering assorted farm animals, and raising a child. All along I kept asking myself, “What’s a city girl like me doing in a place like this?”

While my body was becoming healthier and I learned a lot about maintaining a cleaner, safer environment, my mind and spirit seemed to be flat-lining. Returning to university for a Master's degree in Special Education revitalized my soul. Upon completion, I taught courses in learning disabilities, children's literature and parenting at nearby universities. I also reviewed children's books for the Vermont State Library, critiqued children's theatre productions for a local newspaper, and wrote and published a small vegetarian cookbook.

In 1981, our family moved to Toronto. For several years I taught developmentally challenged teenagers. One of the highlights during that period was starting a Black Light Theatre group with these special needs students. In addition to in-school events, we had the privilege of performing throughout the school board.

My earlier organic transformation sparked an interest in wellness.  This led me to study and research alternative and holistic health care practices. I innately knew a person's well-being involves far more than just a clean bill of health from the family physician.

During the 1990's, I began losing my eyesight until it became necessary to stop teaching entirely.  Once again, I experienced a total lifestyle make-over. This was my biggest challenge yet. There were times of frustration; times of depression; times of panic; times of just feeling stuck. One day, the universe graciously intervened with an offering of hope.

A serendipitous meeting with a friend took place. We talked about life coaching and the training program in which she had enrolled. She thought I might consider looking into coaching as well. Researching training programs resurrected my sense of purpose.  I became a Certified Life Coach through the Institute for Life Coach Training. I am now on a clearer path that holds the promise of all that is possible.
